Velo Orange Polyvalent MKII Frame & Fork - For 650b wheels
The Polyvalent is an urban bike that's also capable of being used for cyclo-touring, brevet
and fast club rides. Polyvalent is French for "general purpose."
The frame is a low trail French inspired design, much like the old VO Gentleman frame.
It's designed for front loads. The paint is a glossy dark green. The decals are subtle
outlines.
Wheel size is 650b, which VO feel is really the best choice for a comfortable ride on
bumpy city streets. Maximum tire size with mudguards is around 44mm and around
55mm without, but the frame handles best with a tire around 38mm wide.
The rear dropouts are short horizontal dropouts. The reason to use short horizontal
dropouts is to allow internal hubs and single speed wheels to be used without the need
for a chain tensioner. Longer dropouts would make wheel removal difficult on a bike
with mudguards. Rear spacing is 132.5mm so both 130mm and 135mm rear hubs fit.
There is a kickstand plate. A spring can be fitted between the kickstand plate and the
front of the rear mudguard allowing the mudguard to flex forward for wheel removal,
while maintaining proper mudguard line. There are shifter bosses on the downtube.
The tubing is all 4130 double butted chromoly. This makes for a light frame and a supple
and comfortable ride. The tubes are TIG welded.
The rear brake cable housing is uninterrupted. You can sit on the top tube at the cafe
without fear of bare cable marring the paint or your work pants. The cable is not run
under the top tube so as not to dig into your shoulder when carrying the bike up the
steps to your apartment.
The Polyvalent frame takes a 27.2mm seatpost and 28.6mm front derailleur clamp.

Velo Orange Rando Frame and Forks
Construction is lugged and of traditional diameter, not oversize, 4130 double butted
chromoly tubing. The lugs are classic medium point style with small reinforcement
webs. Tubing specs and geometry are virtually identical to those used on the
semi-custom Pass Hunter and Rando frames. The frame is designed to give a supple
and comfortable ride.
The paint is dark blue with just a bit of red, giving a slight purple tint. A single decal
graces the downtube, in the traditional constructeur style .
The Rando frame is designed for long reach caliper brakes; you can use either long
reach (like Grand Cru) or extra long reach. The ideal tires for this frame would be high
quality supple 25-30mm 700c tires. Such tires will provide optimal handling, a very
comfortable ride and low rolling resistance - 43-45mm mudguards fit perfectly.
Maximum tire size without mudguards is 32mm.
As with all VO frames the emphasis is on comfort and perfect handling, handling that is
neutral and forgiving even after 12 hours in the saddle. They use a low trail design as
perfected by the French constructeurs and famed for it's ability to "take care of a tired
rider". Since low trail geometry is perfect for use with a handlebar bag there are
braze-ons for a VO Randonneur rack. This keeps the bag within reach, but low enough
to ensure that it does not adversely effect handling.

• Threaded mudguard mounts on chain stay, seat stay bridge, and fork crown.
• Mounts for a traditional rubber slap guard
• Mounts for a VO Rando front rack
• Vertical dropouts
• Eyelets on front and rear dropouts.

Here is what you need to know when building up the frame: The headset is 1" threaded
(ISO), brakes are long reach (47-57mm), BB is standard ISO (or British) with a spindle
length to match your choice of crank, 27.2mm seat post, we suggest 43-45mm fenders,
130mm rear spacing.

Salsa Casseroll Frame and Forks
