Walrus Flyer
 
Some time back I mentioned here that Freshtripe friend and customer Ian’s wheels were going to be attached to something pretty special. He did mention that it could be some time before he makes a proper start with things and sent through the taster image (above) of his freshly cut Columbus Spirit tubes laid out on the floor in an approximate shape, so I wasn’t expecting to hear back from him until closer to Christmas (7 weeks away incase you had forgotten...).
 
Imagine my surprise when into the Freshtripe inbox appeared some tasty images of Ian’s progress. I say tasty when really I mean gobsmackingly stunning. All the while he has played down his skills, ‘Oh I haven’t done anything like this for ages’ and ‘You probably won’t hear from me again because it will have all gone horribly wrong’. If that lugwork is wrong then I’ll eat my keyboard. The second to last shot shows his nicely detailed forks with Velo Orange PBP rims, Miche hubs & Veloflex Pave tyres (supplied by us) and the final one details his elegant controls with a Nitto Dynamic stem, Nitto Noodle bars and Velo Orange leather bar covers (again supplied by us).
 
Once it’s complete we’ll hopefully have some more pics of the finished ‘Walrus Flyer’, but until then I’ll just stare at those lugs. Now where did I leave that flux...
