This is a rare-bird indeed - an ex-team Vitus 979 low-profile time trial bike from the late-80s. We are told it was a spare team bike for the Percy Bilton pro-team and the spec certainly bears this out..!
It is based around a very lo-pro Vitus 979 bonded aluminium frame - this is reputedly one of the most comfortable (and most flexible) alloy frames ever made! Lovely details abound; including the polished french alloy tubes and lugs, unique “grub-screw” seat clamp, and concealed cable routing.
Its then draped in a full (and I mean full...) Dura-Ace 7400 series groupset. Not just super-shiny 7-speed gears, brakes, headset, pedals and hubs, but also a beautiful stem and seatpost made exclusively for Shimano by the masters at Nitto!
Other tasty treats include a Mavic SSC 700c rear rim and Wolber Profil 18 650c front (shod with lightweight Vittoria tubular tyres), 3TTT bullhorn bars, Mavic TT extensions and a pristine Rolls Saddle.
Please note that this bike is NOS (New Old Stock) - it has never been ridden in 20 years! Aside from a couple of very minor storage marks it is minty fresh and ready to roll...
